Welcome to Flylady baby steps day 28 for getting your home and life in order. We’ll continue working on previous habits for our morning, afternoon, and before-bed routines.
Today Flylady wants us to take care of ourselves. But, unfortunately, we get so busy taking care of other needs that we might forget about our own needs.
Then out of nowhere, we start to feel lightheaded, have no energy/motivation to keep going, or even get a little hangry.
Morning Routine
- Make Your Bed (Day 15)
- Dress to Shoes (I get dressed to socks) (Day 2)
- Eat Breakfast, Drink Water, and Take Vitamins
- Swish and Swipe (Day 24)
- Read Your Post-It Notes (Day 4)
- Make Time for Yourself (Day 5)
- 2-Minute Hot Spot Clean (Day 6)
- 5-Minute Room Rescue (Day 9)
- Declutter 15-Minutes Every Day (10)
- Wash Laundry(Day 20)
- Check Your Control Journal Checklist (Day 8)
- Read Flylady’s Website/App/Emails (Day 3)
- What’s for Dinner? (Day 27)
Afternoon Routine
- Eat Lunch and Drink Water
- Take a Break
- Fold and Put Away Laundry (Day 20)
- Prepare Dinner + Build Your Own Afternoon Routine (Day 23)
Before Bed Routine
- Eat Dinner, Drink Water, and Take Vitamins
- Shine Your Sink (Day 1)
- Clothes For Tomorrow (Day 7)
- Another 2-Minute Hot Spot Clean (Day 6)
- Check your Control Journal Checklist (Day 8)
- Your Bedtime (Day 17)
Take Care of You
Today’s baby step is a reminder to take better care of ourselves every single day. So write down in your control journal:
- Eat Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
- Drink water!
- Take your Medication/Vitamins
- Get Enough Rest – Go to bed on time and take the much-needed nap
- Break/Relax TIme – You deserve it!

Sometimes, I feel like I’m in a pilot mode and need to keep going, and going, and going. But we can’t keep going if we don’t take better care of ourselves.
How to Drink More Water?
I don’t know about you, but I always need to make myself drink more water. If I don’t, I might have a cup of water per day and call it good. So I want to share my favorite tips on how to drink more water.
Pick Your Favorite
The first tip is to use your favorite cup, mug, or bottle.
I used to drink from a glass bottle, but then I noticed that I could drink more water if I used a straw. So then I got myself a cup with a straw.
Temperature
The second tip is to find out what water temperature that you like to drink.
Do you prefer to drink ice-cold water or lukewarm? If you like ice-cold, then add some ice to your water to make it more enjoyable.
Personally, I don’t like drinking cold water. I prefer lukewarm instead. I drink a lot less water when my water is cold.
Flavor the Water
The third tip is to try adding fruit/veggies to your water to give the water a fruity/fresh flavor.
Have a Goal
The fourth tip is to have a goal in mind. For example, my cup holds 20/30 ounces. So my goal in mind is to drink one full cup by lunchtime. Then to drink another full cup by dinnertime and another cup before bed.
This goal doesn’t count the water that I usually have with my meals.
Having a goal defiantly helps me keep on track, especially if I add it to my daily routine. Sometimes just checking something off my to-do list is so satisfying, even if it’s to drink water.
